Former Hot Dog Eating Champ arrested.

Takeru Kobayashi was arrested after trying to get on stage at the Nathan's International Hotdog Eating Contest on July 4th, 2010. He has pled not guilty to the charges of resisting arrest and trespassing.

You may remember his domination of hotdog eating contests that renewed interest in the sport. And yes... it's considered a sport.

Unfortunately, contract disputes with Major League Eating (MLE) prevented his return to the stage. According to the ESPN story, the crowd's chanting for Kobayashi inspired him to take the stage in the hopes that officials would let him compete. Joey Chestnut won the competition taking out 54 hotdogs in 10 minutes.

In the video taken by TMZ, you can hear people in the background chanting "Free Kobi!"

There is only one way to settle this and that's in the ring! Steel Cage Hotdog Eating Battle Royale!
