Welcome Back, Ruben Studdard!

Ruben Studdard hasn't lost faith in his music career. The American Idol winner is set to release a new album on May 19th. This will be his fourth album titled, Love IS, and it will be composed of many love ballads. Studdard hopes to re-connect with the audience that voted him through to a win on the second season of the show.

All of the songs on the new album are all-time personal favorites of Rubens, plus a few new ballads written and performed by Studdard. Love IS features covers of many classic love ballads such as Michael Jacksons “I Can’t Help you", Al Green’s “For the Good Times,” the Beatles' “The Long and Winding Road," and one of my favorites-- Extreme’s “More Than Words.” .

A full-scale concert tour, in-store appearances, and radio shows are also in the works to accompany the release of the album this Spring. Apparently, the soulful 'teddy bear ' has become somewhat of a work-a-holic while on haiatus. Sources cite he is very eager to get back in the studio to begin working on his next album!

Welcome back to the love ballad game Ruben! Do you think Studdard will make an Idol-worthy comeback?

Lil' Wayne Documentary Stirs up Controversy...Go Figure.

Lil’ Wayne recently lost a civil lawsuit concerning a documentary film based on his life. The film gives the audience a glimpse inside the public and personal life of the controversial rapper. There are scenes of the rapper reliving his first sexual experience as well scenes portraying his personal drug use. The film was reviewed by Wayne’s camp, and the rapper's manager made a request for the "defamatory" scenes to be removed from the film. When the film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, the scenes were still there, and shown to the audience!

Wayne and his manager filed for a request for a preliminary injunction with the Los Angeles Superior Court, but the motion was denied. Had it been granted, it would have kept QD2 (The production company) from distributing the project.

QD2 stands by their statement that they have made a truly remarkable film that showcases the extraordinary talent of Lil’ Wayne.

The documentary is scheduled to be released this year. My only question is…
If you didn’t want this in the film, why would you have talked openly about it to reporters and an entire film crew? I guess bad publicity is still publicity, right? Just sayin'…

Go here to check out the trailer for the documentary.

Artists to Watch: Ida Maria

Who? Ida Maria Børli Sivertsen 'aka' Ida Maria

What She's Workin' With

Album Fortress Round My Heart - 2008

Success Overseas:
Ida Maria gained considerable success in Norway in 2007 after winning two national competitions for unknown artists and playing very successful shows at the annual Norwegian music industry festival, By:Larm 2007 and 2008. Her singles "Oh My God" and "Stella" were both played regularly on Norwegian national radio stations. Ida Maria has continued to expand her success outside of her native country, namely in the United Kingdom, where she has appeared on Later... with Jools Holland, has been interviewed by The Times and has performed at Glastonbury Festival.

Fun Fact: Ida Maria is reported to have the neurological phenomenon of synesthesia which, in her case, means she envisions colors when she hears music.

Hot Singles: "Oh My God", "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked"

Hype

*Ida Maria has been working the live circuit for quite some time. Along with her band, she has performed at various festivals--touring in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.

*She was nominated in the Best Rock/Indie Artist category at the BT Digital Music Awards in 2008.

* Her hit single, “Oh My God”, is featured on this season’s promos for the popular television show, Gossip Girl .

A combination of the eccentricity of Amy Winehouse, the raw edge of the Strokes and the searing vocals of Bjork makes Ida Maria an artist we'd like to see stick around for a while. Let us know what you think.

Michael discovers that Hanna loves being read to and their physical relationship deepens. Hanna is enthralled as Michael reads to her from "The Odyssey," "Huck Finn," and "The Lady with the Little Dog." Despite their intense bond, Hanna mysteriously disappears one day and Michael is left confused and heartbroken.

Eight years later, while Michael is a law student observing the Nazi war crime trials, he is stunned to find Hanna back in his life – this time as a defendant in the courtroom. As Hanna's past is revealed, Michael uncovers a deep secret that will impact both of their lives. "The Reader" is a haunting story about truth and reconciliation, about how one generation comes to terms with the crimes of another.

The Spirit

Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Gabriel Macht , Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes

Synopsis
: "The Spirit" is a classic action-adventure-romance genre-twister written for the screen and directed by Frank Miller. It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront ... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Sliken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop. Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

Video Flashback - Eminem: Old Dog, Old Tricks!

We Made You is Eminem's just-released, 2009 "comeback" video. It's chock-full of parody, and eerily reminiscent of Eminem circa 2002. We loved Em back in '02, but we're a bit disappointed with his shtick; we expect more from the talented rapper. Is this proof that you can't teach an old dog new tricks? You be the judge:

Gaga For Gaga

As you may remember, My World featured Lady Gaga as an up-and-coming artist to watch back in December. If you've been keeping up with pop music as of late, you'll know that Ms. Gaga is steadily proving that she's on the road to becoming a pop legend! Poker Face is the #1 song in America this week, according to the Billboard Hot 100, making Lady G the first artist in almost 10 years to have their first two singles chart at #1!
GaGa follows in the footsteps of Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey, both artists who nabbed the top spot twice in a row with their debuts. The Lady is only the fourth female artist in the last 25 years to open with a pair of #1s!
