Cookie resistance is futile.
You've probably already been solicited for Girl Scout cookies from the brownies outside of your local mart or their parents in the work place. This year, I haven't heard a peep.
Throughout the years, I've been one of those folks who didn't want to disappoint folks by telling them "no" and sometimes would end up with 14 boxes. Even when I would avoid them and let my girlfriend or my mother grab a box for me, I would still end up handing both or either one of them at least $10 because they would order what they thought I would want. That would be Caramel Delights and Thin Mints. I liked the lemon cookies and then they didn't seem to taste right after the Girl Scouts council switched to the reduced fat version. This year, I haven't been solicited once and it feels great.
In my new found freedom I realize that I want a box. Just one box. I can pace myself and have 1 or 2 cookies at a time, right? Gone are the days where the box would be devoured watching a half hour TV show... right? Ok, what about if I stick the box of Thin Mints in the freezer? Can I forget about them? Will I wait til the next day and buy some mint chocolate chip ice cream to go along with the frozen Thin Mints for dessert?
I have an idea, I'm only going to buy 2 boxes. The first order form or box placed in front of me will get the money. It shouldn't destroy my diet too much. It only comes around once a year.
What are your favorite Girl Scout cookies?

Well, you asked for it! My daughter Macie, "the inspiration behind the Mit-a-Mins Spectrum Line" is selling Girl Scout Cookies this year. YUP! The very child whose dr. told me that she would never be "normal" and "never have any friends". She is proudly tugging her wagon down our streets, wearing her GS uniform with pride, her little sister, (just a Brownie this year), walking behind, learning all of Macie's "sales tricks" for next year when she will go door to door. But, Macie isn't just selling a few boxes...oh no! She has a lofty goal. She wants to earn the prizes for selling 1000 boxes - which is a digital camera/DVD player or iPod. When I told her that was a pretty big goal, she looked at me and said, "Well, yes, but I know I can do it...besides mom, I'm just being an entrepreneur, like you." Yes, indeed, my daughter, the 2011 "GS Cookie Entrepreneur". Who knew? So, if you want a box...or 2 - I know of a very dedicated little saleswoman, who is an entrepreneur "in training".
Oh please don't eat those cookies unless they have taken out partially hydrogenated oils!! I have not purchased any for that reason..that said they may have changed their ingredients..so please look. I'm all for the supporting the Girl Scouts, but not the cookie sales.
Oh my goodness! As a once-upon-a-time girl scout, I feel for the little ladies that are trying to sell their boxes so that they can earn their patches. So, three ladies have come to me and I bought three from each!!! I wanted to be fair and help the cause, well, I definitely got carried away. If anyone wants a box, I have plenty to spare!.
I too get suckered into buying those cookies!!! I've recently spent less time at our local store where the tables are set up so I'm crediting that for my 0 boxes bought this year. I am missing the Carmel Delites and Thank You cookies though!
What a great memory I have of selling Girl Scout cookies with my dad. There was a contest of winning a puppy and going to the girl who sold the most cookies in my troop. We lived in Westchester County at the time and I remember my dad taking me to all the apartment complexes in the area and knocking on door after door with me. The day finally came to reveal the winner and it was me!!! I was now the proud owner of a beautiful cocker spaniel puppy that I named Rusty. My dad and Rusty are now gone but the memory lives on, so you most likely know by now that I am definitely a sucker for buying girl scout cookies (my favorite being the Chocolate Mint)cause who knows what memory I may help a little girl with!
I have a GREAT solution to those who for whatever reason don't want to purchase Girl Scout cookies. Most troops offer the option to donate your cookies to our military men & women. I've been doing it for years. It's my small way of helping out both the G.S. & our military. Everyone wins!
I have a GREAT solution for those who don't want to buy G. S cookies for whatever reason. Most G. S. troops offer the option of donating your purchase to our men & women in the military. I've been doing that for years. It's my small way of contibuting to both the troops. Everyone wins!
