Music Legend Les Paul Dies at 94

Today is a sad, sad day in the music world. Another great musical legend, Les Paul, has passed away. According to Gibson Guitar, the 94-year-old musician died from complications of pneumonia. Paul was best known for his collaborations with such musicians as Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby; but most famously, he is known for the invention of what is known today as the electric guitar.

The Associated Press reports, "In the 1930s he began experimenting with guitar amplification, and by 1941 he had built what was probably the first solid-body electric guitar, although there are other claimants. With his electric guitar and the vocals of his wife, Mary Ford, he used overdubbing, multitrack recording and new electronic effects to create a string of hits in the 1950s."

Read Paul's full biography here. One thing's for sure; we'll be jammin' out to Paul's tunes over the weekend in remembrance of this musical legend.
