Would you be able to guess the Top 10 songs of all time? Would you believe that Elvis or The Beatles aren’t even in the top 5!? And how’s this for a surprise? Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” nabbed the #1 spot according to Billboard, who recently put together a list comprised of the Top 10, #1 songs in the 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Billboard Hot 100 chart measures airplay and sales information in determining the nation’s most popular songs. To determine the most popular song of the Hot 100 era, Billboard used a formula to determine the top song—not always relying on weeks at #1 since the data hasn’t always been reported that way.
