Taylor Swift Shares Her "Thug Story" at the CMTs!

Did you catch last night's CMT awards? The show was spectacular! Taylor Swift stole the show (no surprise there) by showing off her versatility , rapping with T-Pain, doing comedy bits and fronting Def Leppard. Of course, Swift has longed to be down with hip-hop and has also been known to cover Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” in concert. Check out Tay and T-Pain performing "Thug Story"!

Idol's Iraheta Inks Record Deal with Jive

On the heels of record deal announcements by Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, fellow "American Idol" finalist Allison Iraheta has inked a deal with 19 Recordings and Jive Records to release her debut album in the fall, reports Billboard. The 17-year-old singer finished fourth on "Idol" and at 16 was the youngest contestant to ever make the Top 12.Check out Allison singing Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" on Ellen:

Dave Matthews' "Big" Debuts at No.1!

Dave Matthews Band strikes again with its fifth-consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 as "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" bows in the penthouse of the Billboard 200 with a whopping 424,000. Better still, it's the fifth-straight studio set from the group to open with a sales week of at least 400,000. The act's last studio set, 2005's "Stand Up," stood tall with 465,000 in its first frame. Congrats Dave & the boys! Have you listenened to the new album yet? Thoughts?

Music is Feeling The Effects of the Twitter Takeover

O.A.R. frontman Marc Roberge is leveraging the Twitter phenomenon to his band's advantage! According to Billboard.com, his island-vibe roots-rock act is embracing the new social media website for a first-of-its-kind Tweet songwriting contest that will result in a new song being released exclusively via iTunes in October!

"I really kind of got into it with the first idea, 'Wouldn't it be cool if we could just kind of get together with the people and hear what they have to say lyrically?'" Roberge says. "And then I thought further about it and said, 'If I collected all of these lyrics from these people and wrote music inspired by it, it's truly like an original idea.' Beginning June 9, 2009 through July 7, fans can submit their lyrics, 140 characters at a time, to O.A.R.'s page at twitter.com/ofarevolution. The band will then pick three winning verses, a chorus, and a bridge that will make up the lyrics of the song. Roberge said in a perfect world, all five songwriting parts will come from different submissions. At that point, the winning song lyrics will be posted for fans to once again get involved by submitting potential song titles. The band will also be uploading video footage to Twitter throughout their summer tour so people can follow along and see the songwriting process.
